Ballet Trip 4th March 2026 - The Red Shoes

A small group of ladies from Y Bontfaen WI attended Matthew Bourne’s production of The Red Shoes at The Millennium Centre.  The ballet is loosely based on a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.  It is a beautiful interpretation and a really magical feast for the eyes in terms of dance and costumes.  A good time was had by all.

Jane Austin Bath Trip September 2025

Ladies from Y Bontfaen WI visited Bath in 2025 for the celebration of the Jane Austen 250th anniversary.  A visit to an exhibition on her life and works was enjoyed by all.  This was followed by a visit to Bath Abbey then a “promenade” through the streets of Bath where they retraced some of Jane Austen’s steps and experienced a feel of Regency England.

History of Llanbletian Tour - April 2024

Sue Bradshaw Jones led group of over 20 WI members around  the village of Llanblethian  and gave a  lively, engaging and informative tour of the village .  We meandered through the narrow lanes and learned about the castle, houses, river and buildings. Sue described the  people who lived and worked in the village from the 1700's  through to the present day - both rich and poor, pointing out the site of the former Alms houses (three in total).  It was fascinating to hear about the trades and industry that the village was involved in throughout the ages.

We then settled into the bar area of  the newly opened Cross Inn for a drink and slideshow of historical photographs of the people and places that Sue had spoken about.

Well done Sue - what a wonderful evening it was.
