More Information and Background to the Project

We are delighted to share that we have been successful in obtaining a grant of £10,000 from the Denman Trust towards a project proposal that we made to run Day Courses across the Federation.  The contribution from Federation Funds to this project will be about £10,000.  The courses will cost approximately £30 to members including refreshments.

There will be an option of 2 topics for each of the day courses with groups of 10 - 12 members per topic over the next 18 months through to early 2027. In the current plan it is planned to have 8 days.  There will also be 2 days of training to train members from our Federation so that we can develop our own tutors.  We will be trialling a range of venues and topics to see what members like best in terms of venue, catering and courses.

The first dates will be in January and the Spring of 2026 and information for these first courses will be available in November.

We proposed this project as while many members had attended Denman Courses in the past and some had enjoyed our two-day courses, we recognise that in today’s climate residential courses have become very expensive and are keen to offer something more accessible.

Courses will be run in the East and West of the Federation and WIs will be allocated to a specific venue in the first instance to improve accessibility across the Federation.

This is a long term project involving gathering feedback after each course and is intended to give us experience so that the Federation can replicate this on an ongoing basis, so that members know that there will be reliable access to regular in person training.

Our first request will be to ask you to let us know what skills/crafts you are interested in, so that we can continue with our planning.  Your WI will receive an email about this.
